Crafting and DIY
Whenever I am not elbow deep in my work, you will find me making something! Whether it is painting, making resin art, creating something with polymer clay or upcycling old furniture to match my tastes. Working with my hands and creating physical things is a great counterpart to my very technical career life, and it keeps me grounded and balanced out.Work History
Self Employed - Freelancer / Consultant / Artist (October 2023 - Now)
After almost a decade working in the Tech World, I wanted to expand my horizon and explore the world a bit. I created a lot of my own projects, took some freelance gigs and helped friends starting their own company by consulting them. I also moved back to Berlin at the end of 2024, to take care of my mother and start a new chapter in life.- Freelance Web Developer Consultant: helped small businesses improve online presence and SEO, maintain Wordpress sites, help update tech stacks, etc.
- Creating art and crafting projects: Selling them on Etsy and in my community.
- Travel and Exploration!
- International move: From London to Berlin (Turns out moving countries requires a whole new set of logistical skills!)
- Support and Caregiver for a family member.
Thought Machine - Release/Deployment Manager Team Lead (February 2022 - October 2023)
I was enabled to take over the Release Team in Thought Machine, when my manager moved internally to a different department to build up a new function. This has been a great challenge and opportunity for me to expand on my skills and really cut my teeth in a leadership position. Thought Machine has been doing incredibly well and acquiring new clients every month, which meant a big influx in our workload and also that I had to buckle down when it came to progress improvements as well as working across many different teams to keep up with the demand. It was also the first time I received the responsibility for direct line reports.- Improving processes across teams (technical testing, documentation, SaaS, client services and many more).
- Taking over line management responsibilities and advocating for my new reports.
- Putting together a vision for our team to grow within the company and expand the services we could offer to clients.
- Advocating internally for increased demands on our team and coming up with hiring requirements.
- Interviewing, hiring and onboarding new Release Managers.
Thought Machine - Release/Deployment Manager (December 2019 - February 2022)
After working in Thought Machine's Frontend Team for just under a year, I was enabled within the company to follow my ambitions to switch into a more process managerial role. I transitioned into being an RM and it was a fantastic decision. In my time in this department I have thrived and improved drastically. As I was working in Fullstack roles before and usually for smaller Start Ups, I already had an idea of many aspects of the job, which helped me adapt to it very quickly.- Creating processes and structures, to enable faster and more stable development of our software product.
- Facilitating communication between different departments, or departments and clients.
- Delivering stable software, meeting ACs to clients on time.
- Driving improvements in our own team, to make sure we can do our jobs quicker, more efficiently and more securely, such as implementing scripts or documenting processes.
- Acting as a "translator" between the engineers and the less technical people in the company; and vice versa, to ensure expectations are managed and met.
